Behavioral Expectations

At Olive Speech Therapy, we strive to create a positive, supportive, and engaging environment where all children can grow their communication skills while having fun. To ensure a safe and productive experience, we ask that all campers follow these behavior expectations:

  • Respect Others Be kind and listen when others are speaking.

  • Follow Directions Follow the instructions given by the speech-language pathologists.

  • Stay with the Group Participate in activities and stay within designated areas.

  • Use Safe Hands & Feet No hitting, pushing, or rough play.

  • Use Indoor Voices Speak at an appropriate volume for group activities.

  • Try Your Best Engage in the activities and have fun

  • Be able to listen and take turns when speaking.

  • Engage in activities without frequent disruptions.

  • Show basic self-regulation skills (e.g., using words to ask for help instead of acting out).

What Happens If a Child Struggles with These Expectations?

We understand that every child is learning, and we use positive reinforcement, visual supports, and clear expectations to help campers succeed. However, if a child is consistently unable to participate safely in the group setting, we will:

  • Provide gentle reminders and redirection.

  • Offer a quiet break or alternative activity.

  • Communicate with parents if additional support is needed.

If a child’s behavior significantly disrupts the group or poses a safety concern, we may recommend alternative support options that better meet their needs.
